Game on, legal eagles!<\/strong><\/p><p>In a significant move, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced that it will likely introduce and enforce new regulations by the end of July to allow foreign lawyers and law firms into the Indian market. Initially, this change will apply exclusively to lawyers and law firms from the United Kingdom (UK).<\/p><p>This development was unveiled at a meeting held at the Law Society&#8217;s Hall in London, where BCI officials convened with representatives from the Law Society and the Bar Council of England and Wales. The announcement marks a pivotal step in the ongoing efforts to open up India&#8217;s legal sector, which saw a major push in March last year. The Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) raised several objections, and the Law Society and Bar Council of England and Wales sought additional clarity.
