It was observed that such evidence is investigative in nature and cannot replace legally admissible proof presented before the court. Independent corroboration through reliable witness testimony, scientific evidence, or other material was held to be necessary before guilt can be established beyond reasonable doubt. The Court emphasised that criminal convictions must rest upon credible and legally admissible evidence rather than suspicion or investigative leads. The judgment was viewed as strengthening evidentiary standards in criminal trials and safeguarding the rights of accused
