In response to the unfortunate death of a constable due to a heart attack, police personnel diagnosed with borderline or critical sugar levels and hypertension will now undergo monthly health check-ups. Additional Commissioner of Police, Rahul Prakash, announced the organization of health camps for all personnel, with the issuance of health cards following the check-ups. Prioritising the well-being of its personnel, the police department has implemented a unique initiative to ensure regular health monitoring for individuals diagnosed with borderline or critical sugar levels and hypertension.

This proactive approach involves conducting health camps specifically designed for these individuals, where their health status will be closely observed. By adopting this distinctive strategy, the police department aims to provide comprehensive care and support to those with specific health needs.

“Our priority is the well-being of our personnel in vulnerable health conditions, who will undergo tests every month,” stated Prakash.

The health condition of the city police has raised concerns, with approximately 107 cops classified as “crisis” cases of hypertension and an additional 2,017 dealing with overweight issues. Police officers have attributed these health challenges to the demanding nature of their duties, including high levels of stress and long work hours.

Officials claim that these regular health reports provide early signs of diseases and enable timely treatment. The reports also highlight elevated blood sugar levels among constables and inspectors, with around 75 personnel having sugar levels of 160 and above.

Constables express the difficulties they face, including limited leave options and high levels of stress.
