Yudhishthira kicks off the tales with an epic story from the Mahabharata – the Yaksha Prashna. The righteous king recalls his brain-teasing encounter with a spirit who served him riddles like a gourmet chef serves exquisite dishes

AH, THE whims of time! Imagine being a fly on the wall at a cozy café where three unlikely guests find themselves engaged in a lively, enlightening conversation that transcends centuries and technologies. Yudhishthira, Binod Pal, and AI Arbiter walk into a café, and it’s not a joke – it’s a remarkable tale involving a glitchy time machine, a curious scientist, and a sprinkle of cosmic luck. But let’s not dwell on the “how” – instead, let’s dive into the “what” as they recount their most memorable judgments.

Yudhishthira kicks off the tales with an epic story from the Mahabharata – the Yaksha Prashna. The righteous king recalls his brain-teasing encounter with a spirit who served him riddles like a gourmet chef serves exquisite dishes. The riddles weren’t edible, but the stakes were high, answering correctly meant saving his brothers’ lives. The king shares how he dazzled the Yaksha with his wisdom and honesty. Yet, he chuckles as he admits that he hit a stumbling block with the question that baffled him, “What is the most wonderful thing in the world?” I mean, really, what could’ve he said? “The most wonderful thing is that despite numerous beings entering the realm of Yama every day, humans still clings to the illusion of their own immortality.” Classic Yudhishthira!

Binod Pal, intrigued and sympathetic, jumps in. He recounts his own tale of dissenting from the Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal verdict in 1945. He rebelled against  the pack by claiming that the Japanese leaders were not guilty of the crimes they were accused of. Pal danced to his own legal tune, challenging the very foundations of the tribunal with eloquence and flair. With a glint in his eye, he tells his companions how he weathered criticism and threats like a stoic warrior. You can almost imagine him defiantly raising an invisible gavel to dissenting cheers!

    INDIA, THAT IS BHARAT

Enter AI Arbiter, a futuristic mind born in the 2050s. It chips in, divulging a cosmic-level courtroom drama involving planets. Yes, you read that right – planets! Two rival corporations duked it out over celestial real estate, and AI Arbiter was the final judge, jury, and justice. The AI shares how it sifted through digital rivers of data, employing intricate algorithms and cosmic rules to dish out justice. It declared one corporation the winner due to its superior investment, innovation, and exploration. The other? Slapped with a hefty fine. AI Arbiter boasts about its invincible security, fending off hacking attempts like a digital superhero.

As their tales intertwine and laughter rings through the café, one can’t help but ponder the hypothetical, What if they had to judge each other? Would Yudhishthira’s ancient wisdom resonate with AI Arbiter’s futuristic logic? Would Pal’s dissenting spirit find common ground with the digital sentinel’s algorithms? Would they understand and appreciate each other’s cultural and contextual backgrounds, or would it be like debating particle physics with a banana?

In the end, the café table becomes a metaphorical bench where the judges share more than just stories. They share values, ideals, and the relentless pursuit of justice. Whether a king from an epic, a dissenting jurist from history, or a futuristic AI, their stories unite them across time, space, and silicon chips.

As you, the fly on the wall, watch their camaraderie and revelry, you’re left with an amusing thought, If flies had a justice system, would these three be the ones arbitrating the buzz?
