The Delhi High Court has issued a contempt of court notice to free online encyclopedia Wikipedia, generally consulted, for not disclosing the details of editing relating to an entry on news agency ANI. It expressed dissatisfaction that Wikipedia has not complied with Indian laws, and warned the platform, “If India is not liked, the choice of not working in India is available. government intervention to block the site might be sought.”

ANI has filed the case on the ground that Wikipedia has committed defamation by allowing certain edits on one of its pages that provided information about the agency. According to them, the edits labeled ANI as “a propaganda tool” of the Indian government. Earlier, the court had directed Wikipedia to reveal the details of three accounts that made these edits, but ANI argues such details remain undisclosed.
